Is the cruiser the main ship of your fleets to ? I came to the conclusion that battleships and dreads don't realy have a role . So far heavly researched cruisers whit anti-proton beams and heavy shields have proven to be the best . Is there any other type of fleet that can be as fast but even more deadly ? 2. I've been playing whit the condition solo survivor all the time but so far i had some problems whit the fact that there where no more enemy ships or planets but the game didn't gave me the victory . Do you have to kill every satelite and mine field to win or is this a bug ? |

I thought I would throw in my two cents, and make it as complete as possible. If this is inappropriate to have in Space Empires 5, then maybe in SE6? I guy can hope... Here is a way that Weapon Arcs could be incorporated in to SE5. This is meant to be a holistic suggestion, touching on all aspects of the game which would need to be changed, and going in to specific detail as much as I can. Some of this might have been suggested before (I honestly can't remember) so don't be angry if it looks like I'm copying someone else's idea(s). |
Problems with video board.Soumis par HalTheReal le Dim, 2007-11-11 16:20 Space Empires V Generalhi guys! some days ago i changed my video board from an ATI (tbh i don't remember the model) to an Nvidia 8600 gt (waaay more powerful the the ATI i had before). Since this change i can't play SEV anymore I tried activating the vertical sync, since this strange lag (and i say strange because it's not the lag you espect when you have 10 fps on a game, but it's more likely your screen, while turning, goes 2 steps forward and 1 backward)happens only when turning the screen, and not when zooming in, but i still have this really annoying problem. |

The game crashes when the map is supposed to be created, so i want to try something and use a premade map here. After the turn processes it will treat the field as a mineable (such a word?) area where you can recover resources and possibly technology if the visiting empire is below the tech of the destroyed ship(s). |

Storm versus Asteriod display propertiesSoumis par Isopsyco le Dim, 2007-11-11 18:29 SE:V MODsHave a question for the mod experts out there: what is the main difference and reason for the display difference of storms versus asteroids? Here is what I did so far and the results: I swapped an asteroid xfile with a storm graphic file (both out of the stellerXfiletypes data file) and when I got in game, I see the two switched on the strat map but when I click detail map I get just the combat grid with no storm or asteroid models or graphics. I'm assuming the display properties are different for storms versus asteroids but I don't see the data file entry lines that would make a difference if I use models or graphic pics to display the type. |

Few (probally basic) questions for moddingSoumis par Deathstalker le Dim, 2007-11-11 20:51 SE:V MODsJust a few (probally basic) questions as I try to customize 'my personal' version of the Balance Mod (not for release, just for my own fun Planet stats for domed/un-domed....can these be affected by formula's in the txt file?? (ie,facility space depending on races Environmental Studies level or cargo space depending upon Construction level?). Can formula's be used in the settings.txt at all? (slow down loyalty decrease with levels of Sociology?),(Base to Hit Value changed with levels of Military Training or Sensors?), (Anger levels different for races with differing levels of Psychology?).(Even things like Base resources used/generated would be neat if you could customize them to race...). |

i hope you can help me with this problem, since i can't play anymore to SEV:
the problem is that when i turn the HUD the game starts "lagging" as hell (even if in the firsts 30-45 mins of play the problmen is much less notable, with just some "clicks" every 1-2 secs, it degenerates until the game is totally unplayable), even if the fps are locked to 80-110.
