A game for noobs (PBW)

A game on Play by Web for new players to the game. The settings are what would be default in my mind. I am new at being a game admin. If you want to join, go to seiv.pbw.cc sign up/login go to the open games section, Open SEV games, and (as the starting letter is A) the game will be near the top. Hope to see you there!

New PBW game - Rise of War (6 players)

I'm starting a new SEV1.71 BM1.14a game on PBW, 5 or 6 players, and would like to invite players (with experience in PBW matches) to join.

The game is called Space Empires: Rise of War
http://www.pbw.cc/text/index.jsp?menu=gamemenu.jsp%3fgame=1oji1tj&body=gamebody.jsp%3fgame=1oji1tj

Please be aware of the following game settings:
Small galaxy (30 systems)
High Tech cost
5000 Racial points
500k Tech points

The premise of this game is to limit rapid technological growth and hopefully make for a more realistic progression of an empire's expansion among the stars. This will be done by setting the tech cost to high and having a small map containing 30 systems between 5 or 6 players, so space will be limited and therefore the ability to research will be slower. Decisions on the direction of research, balancing research/security/offensive potential, and maintaining a growing economy should be all the more important.

Hi, guys... I'm from Ukraine and speak English badly, but I like SE5 and I am upset about dumb SE5 AI... I searched for SE5 players in Ukraine but nothing was found.. I want to ask you... How can play several men from different countries without miscomprehensions?

I'll play with pleasure but this thing disturbs me very much

Simultaneous=Real Time !!! (Not Turn based)

Simultaneous is "at the same time", "real time" NOT any form of turn based.
When I started doing research for the next gen Master of Orion game I wanted a real time multiplayer capability. This was my main requirement. There were two real contenders: SE and Galactic Civilizations. All reviewers agreed that GC had much superior AI but for those who wanted to play human opponents SE was the one! It was described as having both turn based and SIMULTANEOUS play options. So I went with SE... Now, after researching, testing and learning the game for over a month, I finally got to testing its multiplayer component on my LAN. And what do I discover? The local definition of simultaneous is still turn based!!!

For players who play multiplayer exclusively

Check this out...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NTFS_junction_point

Might make managing your shipsets and mods a bit easier, no? Using a junction point (or symbolic directory link if you're running Vista) to point from a mod's Empires directory to your stock Empires directory will save you the trouble of copying all those shipsets to all your mod folders! Heed the warnings in the article, though, if you're not running Vista...

I already posted this over at PBW because I thought it would *really* help Geo manage the site, but I suppose other players might want to know as well I say players who play multiplayer exclusively because if you want to play a mod against the AI, you'll need the mod's custom AI's, of course, so while the idea will work for multiplayer, you'll either need to make another SE5 install for single player or shuffle Empires directories around...
