Where to get Mods? and Can I help?

zWolf's picture

Say,

I was wondering, where you pick these mods up... there a 'general repository'? or do you need to go to the individual modders web page / FTP servers to get them?

I think I saw some place on these boards that is supposed to track the mods / Patches.. however I didn't see anything player made there.

I did see a link to the balance mod, in the balance mod thread.

I'm wondering though, if there isn't a 'general area' and the mod's are spread out across the net, then would it be helpfull for some one, (and I'm thinking me here,) to set up a 'mod' web site?

I used to run some fairly popular sites for WarCraft II .pud files, and StarCraft .scm (I think) files. -the Chaos pages-

I'd post a picture of the mini map, put up a short blurb about it, and then make links available for down loaders.

It got to be a lot of work, but in todays world of Databases, and Content managers.. It shouldn't be NEAR as much work for me to set up... (plus I'm much better at web design than I was in 97/98 hehe.)

anyway, if there's already something handy like that out there, then let me know... if it's something that might interest and be of use to the community, also let me know here, and I'll start work on it.

Thanks,

and

Other SE Sites etc.

There's more Space Empires sites then this one...

Spaceempires.net hosts many mods, shipsets, and other utilities for Space Empires IV. The Play-By-Web site (www.pbw.cc) for SE:IV is also another site that hosts a lot SE-related content. In other cases, some modders prefer to host their own mod downloads as well - perhaps to give users a reason to visit their sites. Sticking out tongue

One thing to keep in mind is that SE:V was just released and so there's not much in terms of user-created content yet.

Well I would say any mod

Submitted by Combat Wombat on Fri, 2006-10-27 11:38.

Well I would say any mod that gets released will be available at:
http://www.spaceempires.net/home
I consider it to be the best fan run site, Fyron manages to do a damn good job.

Also there is my site that needs an overhaul soon:

Thanks, I checked out those sites, and that's exactly what I was looking for! Categories, and a little blurb by the author about what the mod does.

Thanks,

heh, Cptn. Kwok are ye one of those that likes to have visits to your sites? heh, I'll definitely check em out. though, I do think it's kind of you to have your balance mod listed on other sites besides your own. thanks for that!

As for PBW, is that going to be the main method of play do ya think for SE:V ?

I read the 35 step 'help' procedure for doing a multi player game on the multi player forums... and if it's that much of a head ache, any automation will definitely be appreciated.

I'm really looking forward to the multi player aspects of this game. It's the primary reason that I'm buying it. I'm glad the dev did what it took to get it so that we can play with other humans... It will be nice if that procedure for making it work, gets simplified though, n thats for sure.

thanks,
