Supply question

Submitted by b0gman on Wed, 2006-10-25 12:24. Space Empires V FAQs

I was wondering if my planet homeworld isnt able to generate supplies quickly enough is it possible to construct stations with solar panels and have them send their supplies down to the surface.

In theory, yes... Also, making more resupply facilities

Submitted by crward on Wed, 2006-10-25 14:14.

As I understand, resupply facilities generate 500 supplies each, look for a ship in the system to give them to, and if they don't find any takers, stash the supplies onplanet.

You could also produce ships made of emergency supply capsules, then burn their supplies supplying other ships and upping a planet's stock -- a way to funge Mins, orgs, and Rads into supplies and ordnance.

Satellites, maybe?

Submitted by Scinex on Wed, 2006-10-25 14:35.

This is also something I was pondering. It seems like a good idea to make satellites with solar panels or on them to augment a planet's supply production capacity. Problem is, I don't think they automatically transfer their excess supplies to the planet, and doing it manually each turn would be a huge pain.

But maybe I'm wrong. Anyone know for sure?

I hadn't even thought of

I hadn't even thought of doing that. I will try and test this next time I play, when I get solar panels that is.

I have tested

Doesnt work at all. Unless fleeted a ship will not transfer excess supplies. The only way ive made this work is by using a starbase with one level of solar panels and one level of supply storage. Its still necessary to manually transfer supllies. Satelites are impractical because at best you can fit four supply bays and 4 solar panels. So the ammount of supplies stored is small unless you build a crap ton of them

It's better to use space

Submitted by LordHavoc on Mon, 2006-10-30 17:35.

It's better to use space stations/starbases rather than satellite because of the 50% reduction in maintanance costs.
