Drones just sat there

Attacked one frigate with a drone carrier loaded with three stanard explosive drones.

I launched the drones at the beginning of tactical combat, and they just sat there. Movement 12, but they didn't move, and the "ram" and "target" buttons were disabled.

The enemy closed to firing range and just picked them all off.

I have this problem too. Also, my space stations will not fire at anything except at incomming missiles with their point defense guns.

Try this however, create a ship and give it drone launchers. Put the drones in there and get them to launch during combat and you'll probably find they'll work.

For some reason drones & fighters placed directly into the simulator have 0 supplies and are unable to move (i think, i can't check it right now i'm not at home)

But those launched are ok

I had that too;
It seems you do not only need ordinance supplies but that you also need to add a little standard supplies; Then it works.

Half-bug with drones

Missile weapons use both supplies and ordnance, so your space station needs both. Sticking out tongue

I think drones with standard weapons work ok though.

Drones not moving

Same problem here. So how do you get supplies to the drone? Its carrier had plenty of supplies. The drones should take what they need when they launch.

They do.

They do, because I've had drones move on the system map- which they won't do if out of supplies. And the combat screen reported near-full supplies and full ordinence.

I think its a bug.

Recovering Drones

Why can't you recover drones? You should be able to. Also, is there a way to control their launch in combat? In SEIV I never launched them all at one time and always keep some in reserve. Now the AI launches them all at once in the first seconds of the battle.

It's a limitation...

Drones by design are not recoverable - it's part of their limitation.

The Drone Launcher is not working as described - but it and all the launch components are getting a bit of a makeover so they will differently than the demo where they release everything at once, ignoring their limits.
