Huge Fleets, Low Tech

Submitted by antirelic on Tue, 2006-10-24 09:24. Space Empires V General

I'm going with a different approach then I normally play with. I've decided to go low tech, but massive fleets. I am giving the AI all the resources in the world to start with, but myself, I am going to take it slowly.

I'm going to try and build up my resources and resource storage capacity to the point to where I can support up to 500+ ships in play at one time, and maybe 1000 units (between ground, satelites, drones, and mines).

I'll see if I can low tech zerg the AI into compliance so that they do subjigation pacts where they do all my research for me. Smiling

Good luck with that! It

Good luck with that!

It sounds challenging.

I've used 1 mid-tech battleship
(lvl 12 proton cannons/lvl 12 large weapon mounts/lvl 12 sheilds/lvl 12 armor/ lvl 12 combat sensors/ 25,000 supply and 6,000 ordanance) to destroy entire fleets of low tech ai ships (and the planets they guarded) before; with only taking minimal to no damage. So don't be too surprised if you run into that kind of situation in reverse. If the ai gets ahead of you too quickly you may be hitting the {NEW GAME} button before you know it! Have Fun!

Fighters fighters and more fighters

Gonna go fighter heavy. Smiling That should take care of any large, annoying beast.
