I made some changes to DesignTypes.txt, loaded a game in progress, and found out that my changes had no effect. New games (quick Start and normal) did reflect the change. I tried placing a copy of the modified file into \GameTypes\Standard SE5\Data but that had no effect. I seem to remember that it was necessary to 'refresh' when data files in SEIV were changed, but then I may just be mad. I hope not, because if I have to start a new game in order to see changes I make, then I'm gonna be a whole 'nother kinda mad.

Mod Designer

Some files

Some files, like DesignTypes, are only loaded when the game starts. Components.txt and some others load every time the game loads.

Thanks

Thanks for the prompt reply, Phoenix-D. I am a bit disappointed to hear this, however. Granted DesignTypes isn't the type of file you need to debug, but I'm pretty sure you could, err, 'hot-mod' it in SEIV. And it seems strange to do things this way. At any rate, is there a list of which files fall into either category?
