Problems with TCP/IP

Submitted by Starcrusade on Sat, 2006-10-21 13:45. Space Empires V Multiplayer

So my friends and I started up a multi-player game today via TCP/IP. The players never get their first turn file and then after the second turn (which does send), it will automatically turn the ministers on every other turn for anyone other than the host. Anyone else having this problem or is it just me?

‹ MP Bugs re. My first LAN Game. Not too bad actually :) A question for you guys ›

There are workarond

Submitted by Rilbur on Sun, 2006-10-22 09:38.

There are workarounds, though I'm not sure I understand the problem, I don't play MPlayer much. There's a nother thread on this subject somewhere, I'll go try and dredge up a link.

There are 10 types of people in the world:

Those that understand binary, and those that don't.

Workarounds

Submitted by cyclone2001 on Fri, 2006-10-27 14:31.

There is a thread out there, but I can't recall the link right now either...I'll look as well. Short answers though as follows:

1) Bug on the first turn where remote players don't get a chance to play the turn. The workaround is to play that turn on the host computer if in a LAN situation. If not every remote player has access to the host computer however, then the person that does will have to take that first turn for everyone.

2) It seems if the host computer is not sitting at the main screen (the screen where you click "process turn"...not really sure what to call it, lol), the host does not correctly receive the remote player files when sent. Workaround is to ALWAYS have the player on the host computer finish their turn FIRST and get back to that main screen. Then the remote players can end their turn.
