Strange Minimize Behaviour

It Depends's picture
Submitted by It Depends on Fri, 2006-10-20 20:37.
Project:Space Empires V
Component:User interface
Category:bug
Priority:normal
Assigned:Unassigned
Status:active

Description

I don't get an access error with alt-tab, the minimize in upper right or using my mouse of funkiness+2's application switcher (MX518 & setpoint v2.30.399). What does happen is upon returning to the game, I can see brief flashes of the running program portion of my desktop through the order box in the bottom right of SEV. That order box is a black square, no SEV icons are visible. All along the edges of the SEV screen, including the universe map and on every single menu's "Close" button, my windows mouse pointer appears superimposed over the SEV pointer. Right or left clicking while the Windows mouse pointer is visible instantly minimizes the game. That behaviour does not go away until I quit the game and restart.

Exhaustive systems details available upon request.

While testing my combat bug, I've discovered that if my desktop is 1280*960 @ 85hz, and SEV is @ 1290*960, this behaviour dissapears and I can minimize/switch without problems.

... even so, I'm still loving the game.

Minimize behavior

We've seen this a couple of times, and we've duplicated the error in house. There will most likely be a fix for this in the near future.

Good work! Sounds like a good workaround for now...

I know!!

When you start SE5, click settings instead of play. change video to "Safe" instead of AUTO and then if it does it again, click the windows button (Nexty to ctrl and alt keys) and then go back into it. Thats what I do
