Lost CD sleeve

Submitted by aesop on Wed, 2006-10-18 21:26. Space Empires V General

Realized I lost my CD sleeve when I tried to install on my new laptop. Is there a way to look up your registration key on the PC (I was able to install SEV on my desktop PC)?

If it's anything like most

If it's anything like most software companies I've dealt with, you won't be able to get it from the program itself.

Your best bet is to call Malfador, and explain the problem. Usually they'll have you describe the original CD, possibly reading numbers off the original. They may have other questions as well.

Then again, they may just say tough luck. You're only way to find out for sure is to call their customer support or e-mail them.

Well if you can prove that

Submitted by Combat Wombat on Wed, 2006-10-18 22:25.

Well if you can prove that you actually purchased it then it will be more likely you can get a replacment key. Though chances are you won't be able to get a new key.

How did you manage to lose the sleeve so quickly after getting the game anyway lol?

Edit: Also don't contact Malfador lol, the publisher SFI would be the one to contact the developeer has little to do with distribution and could not help with this.

Submitted by aesop on Wed, 2006-10-18 22:35.

I have the CD and the actual box/UPC code also. i was tempted to waste another $40 on steam but I will wait. Maybe I can bring it in at my local EB store where I bought it?

Hold on...

...to the evidence you have: receipts, boxes, Manuals, CD etc... Contact SFI and explain you have all the goods except the CD key which was accidentally thrown out and that you would like them to give you a new one.

Hmm and this is why I wrote

Hmm and this is why I wrote it with a sharpy inside my manual, my wife also has the habit of cleaning up empty paper cd sleeves.

:(

I cut it out and taped it to a REAL cd holder. I usually also put it in a text file on my hard drive, in the place I keep all my games' patches... Which reminds me I haven't done that yet...

CD-Key Safety 101

I write it on the disc and then place the originals out of reach of my two year-old.

We have all done this. I

We have all done this. I myself use a sharpy and write it on the CD, the Manual and my memory aid book (I'm getting on in years) as soon as I'm sure the game instals and runs.
