Command Line Switches?

Submitted by CaptRR on Wed, 2006-10-18 16:56. Space Empires V General

Hey guys,

My brother and I just got SE5 a few days ago. We have set up a multiplayer game and and have been passing the files around manually. I am currently working on a program to automate this (similar to pbw java program, though not as advanced). I can get my server to run the game as host fine, and iterate the turn, then send the game files out to everyone.

The problem comes on the client side. I tried using the same aurguments to start the game as I use to with SE4 (i.e. se5.exe "[exect_save_path_of_savegame]" "[player_password]" "[player_number]"

This brings up the game for about 1 second, and then closes it down instantly, no errors.

Does anyone know what the correct command line is to open up a players turn and run it? Right now, we are opening the entire game manually, and its not that big of a deal, but its one more step that I was able to avoid in se4, that I am having to do now.

Not good

Well judgeing by the lack of responses I am going to assume the feature I am looking for is not in the game. Does anyone know if this feature is on the board to be added to the game? Or Perhaps know where I can submit it, so that it might be added in the future?

Command line OK for SE IV

Submitted by Grazic on Thu, 2006-10-19 23:39.

Your command line looks fine if you were playing SE IV.
Perhaps send an email to se5 @ malfador . com and Aaron will either leet you know, or add it.

I went ahead and emailed aron like you said. I don't expect a response back any time soon though, I imagine he is very very busy squashing bugs to worry much about answering simple startup questions.

When or if he does answer, I will go ahead post the sequence here if their is one, it would probably be useful for the play by web developers.
