I'm using the crystal tech tree and get the crystal guns that skip armour.
Yet shooting them down to 0 structure, the ships don't die, they just float around.

Damage Type Skips Armor Always
It's because the damage type has 100% penetration of armor, so it never damages the armor and the ship never dies - it's actually not the worse thing though as your enemy will have lots of ships with just armor costing lots of maintenance. Anyway I made this damage type (Skips Armor) and the one for Skip Armor and Shields (Null Space Projector) do 10% damage to Armor to avoid this problem in the Balance Mod.
