Question about armor |

Hi everyone!
I don't get a few things regarding armor, and I like to get more info on it.
1, Does armor portect the ship all around no matter where you put it, or does a plate on the fwd side give less protection for the aft side?
2, Does it matter which deck you put the armor on? (will a plate on the upper deck protect components on the lower deck?)

I believe armour also goes in order that it is placed. So if you add 1 organic armour then fill the rest with normal armour the organic armour gets destroyed first.

Everything in an Armor slot will be destoyed before anything in an Outside slot takes damage, and everything in Outside slots will be destroyed before anything in an Inside slot gets damaged. Which deck it's on doesn't matter.
Damage is only somewhat directional, taken in quadrants. I think that only applies to the Inside and Outside slots, but I'm not certain about that.
