Population issue

Submitted by athelred on Tue, 2006-10-17 21:02. Space Empires V General

According to the version history

"18. Fixed - You can't remove the last 1M population from a planet."

This is not exactly accurate. After 1.08 you cannot remove the last 1M pop of a particular *race* from a planet (So if you have race foo and race bar on a planet, you will always have race foo and race bar on the planet, barring some plague or some such.). So if you sign a treaty to allow migration or if you take control of a planet with a different atmosphere type, you can never convert already settled planets of that atmosphere to not being domed. This makes migration rather useless (since they will only migrate to already settled planets of the correct atmosphere), and having multiple races less than useful.

I expect it is supposed to be such that you cannot take the last 1M total pop from a planet, but this is not how it is currently implemented. Hopefully this will be fixed (soon *grin*).

That's pretty annoying

Conquering populations that could breath different atmospheres was a major part of my strategy in SEIV games. Got to be a bug.

Workaround

You can definitely still jetison that last 1m people, though, and since migration is only to breathable planets that should take care of the problem.

Ah Excellent. Not an ideal solution, but a reasonable work around untill they fix the issue. Thanks

What, you don't like the air here? Why don't you try breathing.... IN SPACE! Eye-wink (Just somewhat amused at use this as a work around, thanks for the info though)
