Mods not possible because of Language

Hello.

I have a german Language Version and therefore i cant play mods, because they were made in english (dont find a mod in german so far).

So is there aa way to make that compatible?

The US version of SE5 is included with all other versions, so you can just make a new install if you don't mind playing in English.

Also das ist kein Problem.

Du installierst Space Empires V auf Englisch

dann Patchst du auf Version 1.44 (Eu)
danach musst du einfach die 1.63 oder 1.66 (Eu) installieren (ist die UK Version)
dann akzeptiert er die US Patchs direkt von

und alle Mods gehen

solange du mit der Englischen Spache im Spiel kein Problem hast funktioniert das hervorragend

Why play a german game in english?

Ich habe eine Deutsche Version und auch in deutsch die Patche 1.66 und 1.74 installiert (wobei der 1.74 ja noch viele Bugs hat).

Der EvilHamburgerMod beispielsweise, wenn ich den starte, kommen tausende Fehlermeldungen pro Datei

Nachdem ich die ersten 2 Dateien komplett korregiert habe, hatte ich keine Lust mehr, war sehr aufwendig...

Muss man ein Spiel auch so programmieren, daß die Variablennamen auch die Sprache wechseln? Voll bescheuert *g*

Meine Frage ist, ob es nicht auch deutsche Mods gibt?

The easiest solution is to install a second copy of the game, and pick the Enlgish language version. Patch it up with the US patch (you may or may not need to use the British patch around 1.44, from Empire Interactive, first), and play English language mods with it. You can then still play stock in your German copy.

The reason you get 1000s of errors from English language mods is because the translation companies moronically translated the data field names themselves, instead of just the text displayed in-game (eg: component names and ability descriptions). This causes nothing but hassles, making it impossible to even load a mod in the game if different language version are used.

One possible solution would be to create a program that can translate the field names in a mod's data files to those expected by your language version of the game... but then you'd still get a hyrbid beast with some text in-game in English and other text in German. Easiest is to simply install a second copy of the game in English.

Not entirely certain what this says, but it is probably covered by the preceding reply. Eye-wink

AFAIK, there are no German language specific mods. The chances of any of the major mods getting German (or French, Spanish, etc.) language versions any time soon are slim. Somebody has been working on some unofficial Hungarian translations over on SEnet, but that's all I've heard about.

Schau mal hier, McRib hat einen Mod gemacht. Bis Patch 1.66 ging der bei mir, bei 1.74 must du testen da habe ich selber etwas dran rumgefummelt da ich die Settings angepasst habe und die eigenen Dateien behalten wollte.
