COOL! Too bad the guy playing our test game as Brakiri won't be able to use it.

Great! But it seems to me it would be even better if the models were swapped this way: frigate to cruiser, destroyer to fighter or heavy fighter, light cruiser to frigate, cruiser to destroyer. As light cruisers would be left without a model it could have the same as new cruisers but of different size. Sorry for grumbling...

Damn! It's really a shame I can't use this shipset for the PBW test game we've just started. I guess I'll have to stick with the Ngrath for now.

It does look amazing though, props to BlackSwan for his excellent work - yet again.

Is the freighter the Planet Express Ship from Futurama?

There are only one or two "canon" Brakiri vessels though, so no big deal.

It is the Futurama ship.

Only a couple of the ships appear to be canon Brakiri vessels. The rest are unique BlackSwan creations. It is still a very cool shipset.

I know this is an old and stupid question, but it's not in a FAQ and I can't find a straight forward answer:

What do I do after I download an empire style to use it? Esp. the empires that are more than just a shipset, the ones that have all the AI definitions like many of BlackSwan's. How do I get them to be choices in the Empires menu?

Thank you.

Simply extract it into the Empires folder. Each set should have its own folder in there.

Thanks for the answer, though it looks like I got bigger problems Smiling.

I'm running the stock game patched to 1.74. I can't see any of they new empires I downloaded either in the quick start or in the empire setup for a standard game. In particular, how do I load empires into the standard games? Why do the ones that came with SE:V appear in quick start, but not the ones I downloaded? How would I load one of the quick start empires into a standard game?

Thank you.

I think I read somewhere only stock sets work for quick start games. As for them not showing up in a standard game, are you using
the balance mod ?

No mods, just the patch. I'm a newbie, though, so something simple may have escaped me. After downloading a new empire set, how do I use it in a new game? All I see are the screens where you have to choose the empire name/type/leader/etc. Isn't that set somewhere in the new empire? I could make my own versions of the empires by using the shipsets and leader images, but where and how would SE:V load all the AI scripts and stuff?

Thanks

It's an edit one, but I always did liked the basic design. I wanted to use the Protector with this set too but kinda got lost as I
put it together. Am a bit surprised no one has said anything about a Koren war era jet tho, had to see it in the game as dad did pilot
her.

You should see the flag, race pic and a pic of the cruiser. Pick those and finish setting up the rest of the empire the way you want it
then save the empire to file then it will be available as a load empire from file option.

Will it load all of the scripts and other data, like history and stuff? If not why is that stuff there?

Thanks

That stuff is there for use by randomly generated AI empires.

yes, but you will have to copy the Brakiri_AI_DesignNames.txt to the Space Empires V\data\DesignNames folder to be used.

Isn't the .csf used for a player empire? I have only played with BM and use his .cfs files for my games. The ones in the ship sets are stock though.

It's a nice touch. I like to think of these as the smaller atmospheric fighters which can cross into space for orbital combat.
