Odd quadrant generation problem in 1.74 when tweaked for over 100 systems. |
I have been toying around with a personal mod, and have run into a problem of sorts.
Whenever I try to have a large quadrant with over 100 systems, SE V does odd stuff.
First discovered making a large ancient quadrant with no warp points.
I found systems that were 'empty'
Totally empty, no planets, storms, stars, asteroids, black holes, simply nothing.
The system report was 'blank', just the border, tne 'name' of the system at the top and where the system pic should be, grayed out scroll bars, and 'none' with the blue dot where abilities should be listed at. The brown borders and gray background were not there, neither were any other words/labels (name, abilities, notes).
When exiting the 'empty' system report, I get a message box titled "Missing File" with the message "Could not load file" that does not go away unless I click on close three times.
When trouble shooting, and trying to generate a map with warp points, on the first try it connected three of them (a system connected to two others), and poof, it soon finished leave all the other systems without warp point connections.
I have tried stock game with the only change being to make the min/max of a large quadrant as 120/200, and I either get similar results, or it simply hangs part way when generating a new map, or 'stopping' partway through.
A 'test' of an 'incomplete' map led to an instant victory after I ended the first turn... apparently there were no other races placed in the quadrant...
On a side note, I have 'expanded' the system names file to have over 200 names.
I also had just (finally) patched to 1.74 when I started to have these problems.
In previous versions (1.58 and 1.66 iirc) I had no such problems with having more than 100 systems (other than 'no name' systems from before I epxanded the system names file with over 200 names)
Anyone have any ideas or suggestions relating to this odd problem?
Could the 1.74 patch I downloaded have gotten corrupted somehow?

I never understood why Aaron left that SE4 setting in, given its complete redundancy with the explicit min/max for each size setting..

Are you using a stock quadrant type, or a modified one? Which quadrant type? Are the system types modified?
