Multiplayer Mystery |
Hi
Im having a bit of a problem setting up a multiplayer game and would really appreciate it if anyone could shed a bit of light the situation. Im not a very experienced internet user so I could of done anything wrong but this is what Ive tried.
Im trying to set up a simultaneous multiuplayer game across an internet connection with a friend and seem to be unable to send the game turn file to the player from the host. We are using a TCP/IP connection and have set up a Hamachi network thing. We have managed to connect the player and host and loaded the empires. I then clicked the 'process turn' button, then it hangs a little, and a progress bar about player placement comes up briefly (but doesnt seem to complete) and then nothing happens. On the player screen it just says "waiting for game turn from host" and nothing seems to happen.
If anyone knows what I'm doing wrong or has any suggestions and could let me know then I'll love you forever. Cheers for your time and good luck in SEV.
Re: Multiplayer Mystery
Does the box say the game supports a lan game? because if it does its false advertisement and there needs to be some kind of retraction
Re: Multiplayer Mystery
i have played a few lan games with a friend. german stock version 1.66 and the englisch (european) stock version 1.66 without Hamachi. the turn chance is a little time consuming (manual handling) but it worked fine. the only exception are the combat reports, only the host could see them. The lan funktion is working.
Did you use the generate map function? One time we used it in the lan-game
we got am similar problem. If we do not use it .... no problems.
There are some older posts in the forum about hamachi problems, maybe you can find
help there.

Re: Multiplayer Mystery
I'd suggest you to use PBEM instead. I've tried to make a TPC/IP game a year ago, and didn't manage to, and I doubt the situation changed a lot since then.
