Creating the Peace |

Alien races throw treaties at you left or right, however i have a problem, well two, both connected and perhaps both with a soultion.
A lot of treaties given to me are impractical such as make no treaty with anyone else, which dosen't work in my favour when there are twenty other races around me. So as soon as i reject it, they reject my peace treaty (a bog standard non aggression, no sustem colonising in either system) when i offer a gift it 'offends' them.
Sometime i am at war with other races and there is one race who have dragged me down and near exausted my resources. Again, offer a gift, it offends them, offer them a treaty and they reject it.
As much as i like the game and the things that can be done I am honestly starting to wonder is it possible to have a peace treaty at all? What do i have to?

Re: Creating the Peace
Ther is the counter-offer button, but for you trying to forge a treaty withouty counter-offering.
Try non-agression: in neutral systems.
Most races will agree to that (and only that) quickly enough.
You can sweeten the deal by placing limitation to your end, in order to get the to agree.
For example:
Non-agression: in neutral systems
No Bombardment: (your empire name here) cannot perform planetary Bombardment
No Star Destroying: (your empire name here) cannot destroy stars.
Most races, even some that hate you, will agree to this.
Some races never will, either because they hate you too much, or because another empire is preventing you from speaking to them. (this can be done via one of the intelligence attacks, I don't know which.

Re: Creating the Peace
I've noted that (at least with AIs) sending multiple copies of the same treaty will give you a better chance of success. It also seems to make them like you more. O_O!

Re: Creating the Peace
I always do a counter offer. Practically never do I accept a treaty as-is.
