TCP/IP Game Trouble

Submitted by Mr.Misfit on Mon, 2008-06-23 06:54. Space Empires V Multiplayer

A friend of mine an me wanted to play a game together, so we thought, to install Hamachi and start playing by TCP-IP, however, everytime, when the empires are set up and the "Runde berechnen"(Calculate Round)-Button is pressed, it stops there, you see a loading bar for about a nanosecond, then only the regular screen with the possibility to chat or look at the players and the status keeps being frozen. Always at "Calculating Round"
We really do not want to start PBW or PBeM, so anyone can help us?
We use the Standard Game, Version 1.66 German.

PLease help quickly, we really want to play ^^

1.66 is rather out-dated. The latest version of the game is 1.74 (you can install the English version of the game and apply US patches to it if the German patch translations are not up to date).

I´d like to rather keep the official versions, as does my friend but thank you for the suggestion. Can you offer any other help except using us-patches and german-patch-translations to the problem?

Offering support for old versions of the game is dicey at best; its easiest for everyone involved if the latest version is in use. Plus, the only "official" version of the game is the US English version. Everything else goes through dubious 3rd party translation companies. There appears to be a 1.74 patch for the Euro release available.

I see, and I have found it as well as used it, thank you. However, the problem persists with Version 1.74 as well. Can anyone offer some help?

Re: TCP/IP Game Trouble

i dont know anything about hamachi, but it could be a firewall problem.
A friend and i had problems playing while he disabled zone alarm

But it was still blocking. he had to restart his pc with a disabled zone alarm
and afterwards we could play. But we were playing without hamachi.

Another time he had used the funktion: "generate map" before starting the game.
And then the game freezes when he tried to start the multiplayer game (german 1.66).

We hat this problem one time, as my friend made an experiment to look if the pc uses the pregenerated galaxis. He had not saved the map, i think this could be the problem. The pc can not use a map if the map has not been saved.

hope this helps

Deutsche Version 1.66

Ich hoffe das hilft weiter
