[SE5 v1.74] History Tech causes conflict with Society Type? |
Hey, I’m the type that enjoys a race that does maximum damage in combat. I went Berzerkers for my Society Type so I can gain:
All vehicle weapons have a +20% chance to hit.
All vehicle weapons get +10% to damage.
I enjoy crushing my enemies that has far better technology then me. You ask how? The Berzerkers society type natural +20% chance to hit and +10% damage for the win.
But that didn’t stop me from making my strong race even more powerful, I wanted to go much stronger! So I decide to put all my research point into History, because it says you get
weapon hit % and weapon damage % base on the tech level.
After reaching History level 19, my Abilities chart in Quadrant Wide shows:
All vehicle weapons have a +19% chance to hit.
All vehicle weapons get +19% to damage.
All vehicle weapons have a +20% chance to hit.
All vehicle weapons get +10% to damage.
Eager to get the last level, finally! History level 20! But wait… something looks odd to me,
Abilities chart in Quadrant Wide now shows:
All vehicle weapons have a +20% chance to hit.
All vehicle weapons get +20% to damage.
All vehicle weapons get +10% to damage.
My Berzerkers +20% chance to hit is gone! So I said wait…let me save and reboot my computer so the game can be refresh. After rebooting and load my save game, guess what…
it still missing the 20% chance to hit. Either the text thing isn’t set right or the history tech level 20 override the Berzerkers +20% chance to hit ability.
I’m hoping it’s just bad texting then actually losing 20% chance to hit.
So the question is, is this a bug or just bad texting?

to community: I realize I am responding to a post more than a week old, but I feel a need to do so, given that he has not yet received any answer.
SpaceLover (finally, someone who writes such things as I do.)
What you describe, if I remember correctly, is a normal part of the game.
No, it should not dissapear like it did, but only the highest rated same-effect ability will actually be used. (ex: I have a +6 damage boost, and a +12. only the 12 will be used, as it is the better number.
Thus, all this time you've been at +20 to hit your target, and only +20.
I am actually rather surprised that your lesser +10 damage did not disappear in the same manner.

BM : short for "the Balance Mod" by Captain Kwok.
Un-named Mod, or Un-named's AI Mod : a replacement AI for the game, resulting in more difficult gameplay, as the computer controlled players are smarter than before. (ex: they will now load fighters into their heavy carriers, and you will more often see "fleets" of ships)
