Victory Condition Question

Submitted by Neosage on Fri, 2008-06-06 01:17. Space Empires V FAQs

Newbie here, just started playing SEV about 4 weeks ago. This game is sooo cool !
I started with the tutorial. Then started looking online for clarification on some questions I had. Found the lastest version, installed it, not thinking that older version saved games may not be compatable... duh! So my tinkering with the tutorial ended. Started a new game, been working at it for almost 2 weeks. And then suddenly tonight it ends without warning. I'll be honest, I don't remember if I set any victory conditions or not, or if I used Quick Start. So this brings up three questions.

a) How can you tell if a victory condition is set for a game, and what is it?

b) What is the victory condition for Quick Start games? Is there a default?

c) Is it possible to change the victory condition mid-game? And how is that done?

a) go to empires (face with a scanning dish), then comaprisons, and choose victory conditions.

b) doesn't appear to be any.

c) No, I don't think you can change mid game.

When no victory condition is set the condition is "last man standing" excluding minor empires IIRC

Are you playing the full version or the demo?
Demo has a certain number of turns before it ends. - not sure how many though.

Full box retail version, with the 1.71 update installed.

Thanks for the Info. Randallw

Interesting, I've loaded my last saved game, and there is nothing listed under victory conditions. Completely blank except for my empire flag.

Are there any known conditions that will cause an automatic Defeat?

I have no treaties or alliances at present. At war with two empires, neutral standing with four empires. I'll have to play tonight and see if it happens again. Maybe it was just a computer glitch??

Did you accidentally surrender your empire?
Have any of these AI players you are aware of expanded beyond their home system?

I don't "think" I accidentally surrendered. But I am human, so maybe that is what happened. It would be a logical explanation.

I reloaded my last saved game, and was able to play all weekend.

A big thanks to everyone who had ideas & suggestions. It is very appreciated.

I know i accidently surrendered once when i meant to demand that they surrender to me as i had a 5x score advantage over them, fleets that numbered nearly 100 ships in their last two systems and if they had 1 ship left, i would be surprised.
