Game crashes whenever I kill a certain oponent, and he is attacking me in Space Empires 5

Space Empires 5 :

Game crashes whenever I kill a certain oponent, and he is attacking me. Quite annoying to start all over when I have played for so, with such long loading times between each turn for the computer moves, even on a new computer which is quite powerful.
