Ai + mod question |
How do mods make the AI better and more of a challenge?
I was also wondering if with a mod can you make it so you and the ai dont play with the same set of rules like the same tech tree and buildings OR do the current mods already do this?

Re: Ai + mod question
Why would u wanna do that?.....do u mean make them weaker or stronger?

Re: Ai + mod question
i think if u want to make the AI more challenging, give it goals to achieve rather than decision claculating.
For example...
If u tell it to..Get so many tech lvls by colonizing systems and other means it proves far better then a war based machine which inevitably bankrupts itself and goes down by pure stupidity. Also if u do a conquer system, where by U can let them live and they populate your planets and work for u, like slaves so that your population don't have to work, or u can kill them and that be it. Mind if u keep slaves if they become really unhappy they could revolt.
Re: Ai + mod question
The AI does not need a simplified tech tree... it can handle whatever tree is thrown at it, since it essentially picks techs by following a big list. Optimizing research is merely a matter of toying with the order of tech research.

Re: Ai + mod question
i recommend playin someone not ai human then u will realise that u may need to adjust ur strategy.

Re: Ai + mod question
Mods make the AI better by modding the AI scripts to... work better. Not sure how to describe it; better optimizations? more intelligent logic?
It is possible to make AI-specific techs via a free racial trait. The human player naturally does not select the trait. No existing SE5 mods do this AFAIK, cause its kinda cheesy.
