1,71 changing game settings

Submitted by malakar on Wed, 2008-04-02 08:12. Space Empires V General

I just loaded the 1.71 upgrade and started playing a saved game and now there is a limit of 100 Satilites per sector that was not there before. Is there a way to change it back without starting a new game? Is this a bug I should put in the bug forum?

The limit always existed but previously wasn't being enforced.

You can change the sector limits for each unit type in VehicleUnitTypes.txt, found in the data folder.

Now that the limit works I guess a lot of people will run into this. Duh!

Just a quick question... How does the limit effect games that have 100+ sats in a sector already?...in the sense that will it cause any problems with the game.

I see the limit as a good thing. Processing times should improve slightly. I haven't seen any problems in saved games that were over the limit. Perhaps it kicks in once you go under the limit (and you can't go any higher if you were). Smiling

Existing units should not be affected; all that will happen is you won't be able to launch any more until the total drops below 100.
