New style

Submitted by Parcala on Sun, 2008-03-30 13:41. Space Empires V FAQs

i have an idea for a mod and have not seen anything like this in any recent threads (maybe thats why it hasnt been done) but i would like a mod that will create random empires and add them to a game every 10 years, just so that i can keep one game going indefinately aslong as i don't own all the planets (because then they couldn't start on one, but to fix that maybe have it just create a colony ship for the new empire ??) but yea if anyone can do this, or has let me know cause it would be an awesome mod

It's highly likely if you don't own all the planets then the AI players will have the ones you don't so I'm not sure where new players would go (only totally unoccupied sectors would be fair and that should be unlikely). If you DO own all the planets then this is all irrelevent because you won the game in doing so. Smiling

you don't neccesarily have to own every planet to win i have only expanded to 3 star systems and then just obliderated all the enemies and won so it would be practical for those that don't take control of everything in the game, and some enemies i recongnize as a big threat and don't waste my time trying to take them over but rather i disable them by destroying there planets, so i guess my style is to police and kill with as little as possible

and i guess that is why i wanted a mod that would add enemy players about every once in a while, it also adds to the realism because as you are in a battle in one part of the galaxy more races could just randomely come into your quadrant and try and stake their clame

If you had that it would probably be better to have them start at a higher level in tech than a first year civilization. They'll be starting from scratch against entrenched and highly teched opponents, they'll need a boost.

I do not see any realism in that...
This can exist only if there be 1 or 2 races to add to the game, and only because they "reach the star technology", so they can already have some weapon or economic researches, but any knowledge at ship building or fighters munufacturing... That means this race will be helpless against the 10years old empires

maybe a idea for this would be to make a quadrant type that has different sections that aren't connected by warp points, say 4 or 5 sections, and then after a certain time a new warp point opens up to one of them, a little while later another opens and such. i don't know if you could make warp points generate during a game by using scripts, nor do i know how creating/destroying them in the game manually works, so this may not be much of an idea.
