Armour Slots

I'm playing a multiplayer game with a friend of mine...

And because this was our first shot at this we choose to work together so we shared designs, battles, etc...etc.. almost everything except techs.

Now I noticed something peculiar with all the design sharing...

My type of ships have only half the available armour slots that my friend's ships have.

Now I understand that not all designs can be exactly the same (it would be boring) I think the difference with these armour slots is a little bit to large ??
(OK, there is more space for weapons and/or Shield Generators but according to me the benefits doesn't take away the losses)

What is your opinion about this issue...

(I'm using the 'Eee' shipset and my friend the 'XiChung' shipset)

lol the eee depend on shields, i dont like it either but.....

Yes, the EEE are particularly screwed on armor slots, as are the Drushoka.

There is a solution, but it cuts out the Uniqe-ness of each hull.

There is a file in Gametypes/Standard SEV. This file is called Mod Definition.

In this file, there is a line that reads: Override InvConfiguration Slots := FALSE
Change the FALSE to a TRUE and save the file.

You suddenly have completely equalized slots. If loading a savegame, you'll have to re-do all your designs, because the stuff got moved around.

okay....
so, basicaly, each shipset have different ammount of armor slots?
Why? When i use a shipset, im using it for style, pretiness.. im not expectig it to force me to change my designs or playstyle.. especially when i am not informed that -XYZ- shipset is less armored than -B- shipset.
I expected that all shipsets were all balanced the same way, so its up to the player to balance their own designs.

i did notice that something was weird with the purple shipset, its cruiser have only 12 armor slots and its light cruiser have 18.. i beleived it was a mistake.

I've asked the same question elsewhere because I had a problem with the number of slots on custom race ship models. By default, the number and layout of slots is ship model dependant!
