It's 10/16, now where's the patch?

There is no time on it, so it could be released at 11:59 PM Hawaiian time.

Well I hope it comes soon some of us can't play the game!! My PC gives an access error everytime the turn processes in my current game so I'm stuck. And a friend of mine can't even get the game to LOAD it gives him an error right from the start.

Right! Thats it I'm going to bed to dream about the moment when the patch is ready and I CAN DL the game from steam.

If not, then one has to wonder why the leaked patch notes say "fixed".

.... be released Oct 16, 2007 for that matter. No one said which year it would be in.

It would be nice if something concerning this game would come out when it was said it would.
I mean the game was first said to come out in April then July now it's October and it still hasn't officially come out yet on Malfador Machinations web site yet. Now a patch for it was supposed to come out for it on Oct 16th but is no where to be found. In two and a half hours here it will be Oct 17th.

I really don't care when it comes out just so long as it comes out when they say it will.

I stole the patch like the Grinch stole Christmas. Melt my icy heart with a warm island song and you may yet get it.

I'm not getting upset yet. While it may not be laudable, it is par for the industry. I haven't see a date yet that EA has met for BF2 patches, hopefully either it will come out very soon, or a PR rep from SF will be brave enough to venture down here and post another press release with a new date that may, or may not be valid. I'd rather they take the time to get it right than to have a patch that makes the game worse instead of better (again, BF2 every other patch they've released has broken something that was work just fine before). I think these guys are still learning about how to deal with a community, so I'm willing to cut them some slack in the meantime.

just tried making a ringworld, game crashed. if the patch had come out like it was supposed to, i'd have a ringworld. now i'm crying.

That's cause the patch page is correct the Game does have to come out first!. Someone messed up and shipped out the BETA version.

Beta version my rear end. As far as that goes most PC game companies release less than perfect versions of their game simply because games take time to physically manufacture. That's a loaded statement cause either way MM would be complained about. The could have kept it and put all these fixes into the final project and missed their release date then people would be complaining about that. It's much better buisness sense to release the less than perfect game and then have a release day patch to fix all the stuff you didn't before sending it to press. Seriously... find a new topic to bitch about. That one is played out.

So am I just lucky or what? I got the game today and jumped right in. Now I'm 100 turns into a game without so much as a single bug. I was wary to pick up what has been described as an "unplayable" build, but it's just fine for me. Sure I'm waiting for the patch too, just to ensure stability, but I haven't had any trouble yet. Personally, I'm more interested in waiting for a Star Trek mod...(I hope it's in the works Kwok and Atrocities...) Until then I'm satisfied with the game as-is in box.

i know its not out yet, but what i am asking is will the patch be hosted here on this site? i ask this because the malfador site hasn't been touched in a while, certainly not anything significant, especially considering this is really a word of mouth game, and the strategy first site is useless.

being as a few of you'all appear to be beta testers and have something of an avenue to the company, can we *hope* the patch will wind up here even if malfadors own site still doesn't even acknowledge the game is out to the public?

sure they might be sitting on a fully completed up to date web page just waiting for the patch before they put it up live, but i honestly got about zero faith in that.

I may as well put in my two cents re: the patch.

i figure the steam release was supposed to be the patched version, and that valve was waiting for the patch before they began distributing the game itself, when it became aparent to valve that malfadore was going to miss the release date they distributed 1.0, albeit late in the day (5pm their time? right before everyone went home).

Very poor form on malfador's part, not to say anything at all. unfortunatly there isnt alot we can do about it. we could be stuck with 30% of a game for another week. who knows?

MM's website operates on a different timeframe to the rest of the world

I've got to wait until Strategy First release a downloadable version because I don't have a credit card (damn money grabbing banks).

Steam are daft to not have a direct transfer option. (although there has been mention they're going to add it in the future, but that doesn't help me in the slightest)

Those Press releases can't be considered estimates when they are posted on Malafdor Machinations' “SE V” page. Especially when they give an actual date as the release date.

I really don't care when it comes out as long as it come out when they say it will come out. If it doesn't, it's like making a promise then not keeping it. Not very professional or honest.

I wonder if the problem is Strategy First. Malfador Machinations didn't have this kind of problem before, even when they used Shrapnel Games as their distributor. In fact I liked how professional thing were when they were with Shrapnel.

Err... patches and dates for both SE:IV and Star Fury were delayed from time to time with Shrapnel as well... albeit one of the staff would would post something about it sooner than later.
