Star destruction causes game hang. |
I needed system to place a sphere world. I chose a binary system and destroyed the primary with the intent of creating a single star system for my sphere world. Great fireworks, both stars are gone and the game is locked up. I replayed from my last save game and saved again just before detonation this time. I then reloaded the game, remodeled the system and was able to play on. Is this a known bug?

Are you using FQM? If so:

If not, maybe the next patch will help anyways as a fringe benefit of the upcoming bug fix.

Star destruction works fine for me in FQM Beta 14, SE5 1.71. I'm not sure why you would be getting a crash with just BM in the first place though, since it doesn't have enough stellar objects to expose the bugs that were fixed. If you create a new test 1.71 game with BM, can you replicate the crashing issue?

I have heavily used Star destroyers in a Devnull game (by which I mean I use them as if I have a limitles supply, which stangely enough....) and for 3 out of 4 turns it was dangerously close to timing out on PBW. It seems to have come to a head and failed the last turn.

Not that I know of. I once had a star nova by event not long after I built a sphereworld (aaaargh!).
