Speaking of books

Submitted by pyroman on Mon, 2008-03-17 11:47. Off-topic & Casual Conversations

Im waiting for the final book in the Wheel of time series, Its sad he died before he could publish the book, but he left notes about how he wanted it to end so I think it will be a great read.

I was wondering if there are any other books that are like it, based on genre or if you like wheel of time and have another favorite book or series let me know

oh and Dune, should I read the other books published by his son and that other guy? or just keep to the originals...Im torn between getting them and not...if you have read them let me know what you think of them and if they really follow his vision of what the books should be

Let's not forget the Lensmen series. Most modern sci-fi such as Star Trek and Babylon 5 was directly influenced by it (as well as parts of Star Wars, BSG, Dune, and even Dr Who). It may appear a little dated now since it was written in the 40's and 50's but it's portrayal of 3D space combat was well done. Smiling
