Mods, Add-ons, etc.

Hi Folks,

Is there a prefered format the community likes to see mods, add-ons, etc in? (.zip, .tar, Self-executing Windows Installer)

(If anyone's interested, I already have add-on's/replacements for ship names, star names, race names {this one's taking longer due to copyright issues, though I could just end up ignoring this as I never intend on making it for profit anyway}.)
