Micromanagers Anonymous - Second Meeting

Submitted by Juju on Thu, 2008-03-13 18:35. Space Empires V General

Sorry Delta V, I liked your title so much, that I updated it Smiling

My name is Juju and I am a Micromanager.

Today I want to talk about System Capitals.

I just renamed and rebuild about 10 planets ( thank god I started a small galaxy this time )
to be my system capitals. They are small to medium breathers which hold now ( or will hold )
all my System Wide Facilities. From Space Port to War Shrine .. they are not full yet, but now I know where to build the new ones.
I always hated it to search the optimal place in 20 systems and up to build a new system computer or something similiar.

Now I tried this way, what do you say fellow micromanagers, how do you arrange your systems ?

It's a system-wide facility. What does it matter where it is? They go whereever there's space to put them.

If putting them on a defensible planet is an issue, I may reconsider how badly I need them in that system.

Yeah, but it helps remember too .. where did I put it, the systems robotic is better than the time shrine .. lest replace them all.

why the hell is there no medical facility in this system ? ..

now i sort my build queue alphabetical .. put one thing on every capital, if needed ..
backwater systems don't need war shrines, event predictors or shielding .. hmmmm .. maybe 15 facils for the capital isn't enough.

lets see ..

1 space yard
2 space port
3 resuplly ( 1 or more may get scrapped later )
4 gestation vats or medical center
5 fate shrine or other system happyness facility
6 nature shrine
7 time shrine or system robotics
8 system research comp
9 system intelligence comp ( could go to biggest int planet, and only if int is in system )
10 war shrine, event predictor if front world
11 ship academy
12 fleet academy ( both if front )
13 system grav shield
14 planet grav shield ( maybe i think i don't need that )
15 replicant center ..

hmm .. i mostly play organic-religious .. did i forget something ?

I try to put system facilities on planets that don't have high mineral/organic/radioactive values. On planets with high values, the facility space might be better used for extraction.

Well, this is coming from someone who's partially gotten rid of Micromanging habits, but I put them wherever I find space. If I had to find some system-wide facility, I'd first look through the "System Abilities" list to see if it exists, and if not through the likely candidate planets.

Since I no longer apply ultra-anal Micromanaging practices, it just doesn't bother me on the rare occasion where I need to find specific system-wide facilities in queue/existence. Mind, this is in vs AI games - I've yet to engage in a PvP fight.
