Nice work indeed, as usual. In the B5 series the Narn ships are quite limited and they predominantly feature the G'Quan class Heavy Cruiser (link: http://www.b5tech.com/narn/narnships/narncapships/gquan.html) and the Frazi class Heavy Fighter (link: http://www.b5tech.com/narn/narnships/narnfighters/frazi.html). Where did you get your inspiration for the other models? That Troop model seems to ring a bell, but I don't know wherefrom.

I think I am falling in love with BlackSwan. Eye-wink

Actually, the Narns have a pretty good selection of unique ship types and styles. From police cutters to dreadnoughts. I have access to pictures of all recognized and cannon ships. The Agents of Gaming B5W series is a good resource if you have access to them...which I do. If you don't have them good luck getting them because AOG went out of business. I know a new company is doing a B5 game but I have not looked into it to see how in depth it is...but the AOG stuff is great.

It is still nice to have a Narn shipset though...now if we can get BlackSwan to do a shipset for all 35 B5W races. Eye-wink I could use them all in the mod I am building. So far I have the Abbai and Alacan races completed/programmed. The next ones I'll do are the Balosian Underdwellers...I am going in alphabetical order. The BU's would be an easy shipset to do since they bought their vessels from the Centauri and painted them in a black, white, and gray camo. Essential you use the same models and change the textures. The Gaim would also be easy because they use ships from all the younger races...just swap models around in a shipset.

35 B5W races ?!?... My you are more ambitious than I'll ever be. Maybe you should get with Atrocities and work on a SEIV mod.
I was actually doing a Vorlon set and thought this will take to long and did up the Narns to do battle with the Centauri.
I'll get back with them then maybe Minbari and EA sets. A Pak'ma'ra ship set done like with the stock sets where they are almost
face like still interest me but that would be about it.

Thank you again for this wonderful shipset BlackSwan.
EA and Minbari would be my next wishes too!

BlackSwan:

Do you have any interest in making your shipsets fill out the NeoStandard hull model set? As more mods are made, such sets allow the modders more room to play around with hull sizes and such.

Not a complete neostandard. Starships ,bases and fighters I would do thou worldships seems
a bit much to me. As far as units - drones, sats, mines, troops and WPs don't seem worth the
effort cause of their scale. Infantry Koshs and Shadows would be out of character but cool.
How would you scale the infantry ?

Well, since both the Vorlons and the Shadows had their ally races and both sides manipulated other races (i.e. telepaths) to do their bidding, there may be a more elegant way to do this. You could have a psychic control unit, like the organic egg computer thing which would control infantry, like the Drakh did with the Centauri ships by use of this Shadow technology. The Vorlons were modifying telepaths, so there's plenty of room for creating infantry without the need for encounter suit wielding units Smiling

Just make the infantry look like people, possibly in powered suits if appropriate. That's the whole idea, anyways: tanks vs. ground pounders.

There are really only 6 or 7 "Neo Standard" hull types; the rest on there are just references to what SE5 calls for alternates by default.

For a worldship you could just make a sphere with the same general hull texture as the ship set uses. Think Death Stars. Smiling

I don't imagine rendering the Shadow Death Cloud as some sort of world ship is feasible Sad The Vorlon Planet Killer shouldn't be impossible though.

Yea, 35 is a lot. Eye-wink

I will enjoy any and all Babylon 5 Shipsets folks wish to make. I love the entire "space" concept for B5. More like sea ship battles instead of Star Trek battles. Nothing wrong with Star Trek...there is just something cool about a ship being hit in space by a projectile with no fancy pants shields to get in the way of the mayhem.

How about this for a Shadow Death Cloud

a bit too round, it is a quick first try. I have got to make some Shadow solders just to see them running about

Haha, don't take this the wrong way man, but seeing this before I've had breakfast kind of makes me sallivate Smiling

Are you using some kind of semi-transparent texturing?

Schweet BlackSwan. I now have the rules for the Abbai, Alacan, and Balosians completed in my Babylon 5 Wars mod, complete with all their unique technology and weapons. I start work on the Brakiri next. Only 32 more sets of B5W "race rules" to complete to have a fully functional mod. Now that I have the code down programming the mod is MUCH easier. I should get the Brakiri done tomorrow...they have a HUGE set of gravitic weapons to program and a few unique components. Should be fun.

I have been testing the mod as I build each new race...B5W fans are going to love this set-up. So far so good. Pretty soon we will have a B5W mod to use your shipsets in. Eye-wink

Another quick B5W Mod game update: I now have the Brakiri and Cascor rules all programmed as well. Battles play out almost exactly like the B5W game. Ships have staying power with structure. Battles appear epic with a ship being able to take a lot of punishment while being stripped of its assets. Gravitic drives, reactors, engines, thrusters, jump engines, and shields work, all weapons damage works as close as possible to standard, raking, piercing and even the Cascor special radiation damage.

I'm getting excited to get this all done. I would release a dumbed down version but I have not removed all the residual techs from the mod yet since I use them as reference to rules writing. 5 races down. 30 more to go. The Centauri are next.

It might be best to keep talk of the mod in the mod's thread, and focus on the shipset in this thread.

I have to admit, I was kinda disappointed that I didn't see any T'Loth class cruisers in your Narn shipset, BlackSwan. There were a couple guarding that Narn outpost that the Shadows waxed in "Chrysalis" at the end of the first season.

Well, it is almost a reality. I believe the actual count went up to 36 playable races since I discovered the Yolu were actually in print. Black Swan has made some great B5 shipsets that will go perfectly with this mod. The remaining race vessels will have to be programmed by other members of the community or simply use any shipset you want with the race. Truly, any shipset can be used with the mod. Just so long as the mod plays like B5W...there are tons of great shipsets on the net.
