Change ship type in refit? Possible bug |
Well, I built a ship for moving population around. I accidentally set it as a Cargo Transport...but BM Pop minister only controls pop transports. I noticed after buiding 2...
So I copied the design, swapped type, and the game won't let me retrofit to new class. Is there any way to swap a ship's type?
I think this may be a bug...it's denying the refit but not checking that the types are different.

Re: Change ship type in refit? Possible bug
You can't retrofit a ship to a design that is identical to its current design. You're new PT design should be slightly different, such as one less cargo etc.
Also, it would be best to create a Population Transport from scratch if you're going to use with the Population Transport minister. Your copied design with retain its internal AI design type as Cargo Transport and would not work the Population Transport minister.

Re: Change ship type in refit? Possible bug
The script function I wrote for giving AI design types to player design types is only when they are blank - which occurs with any player design created from scratch. At the time, I didn't know that the AI script's internal designation was copied over when a player copied designs.
The next BM patch will match up the AI's internal design type exactly with the player's design type every turn to avoid all these minor issues with minister usage.

Maybe in the advanced order settings, where you can change colony type to, but I believe not.
If not cheat ( I mean .. work around ) and make a buffer ship with a changed component .. do a double retrofit. this should be over in one turn.
