something very strange..

Mod: Balance 1.14

two things well one thing really and something thats annoying...

Asteroides, storms and warp points all look like suns

I had a bunch of drones at a warp point and in comes a scout ship, an Organic Frigate. My drones can only keep pace with it, and he just runs away and destroys a ton, and damages even more.

Organic frigate had contra-tera lvl 1 engines, 5x
my drones were crystal, small and lvl 1 ion engine 2x

why cant the drone hit him, drones are supposed to be inherently fast, they have a huge defense bonus because they are small and everything...

maybe Im just annoyed because none of the planets in my area are any good any good, all the rock planets are small/tiny =(

Did you use a map created in stock?

Frigates are just a bit slower than Drones, but a Frigate with more advanced engines can potentially outrun a Drone, as you've seen.

What weapons are the Drones using?

I just checked and It was generated in stock

I had the warheads on them, I was startin a Atlantis style game, me vs 7 wraith (organics)...even though I had there racial techs advanced through technology bonus at the start and go figure they werent using it =(

Are you generating a map when the Balance Mod data files are loaded?

The only way you can get what you are describing is by using the stock data files to make a map and then loading it with the Balance Mod's data files. It has a few different entries in its StellarObjectTypes.txt file, which results in the mismatched pictures in game.

It doesn't sound unreasonable to me that the smallest ship in the game, with 3-4 tech level advancements in engines, would be able to keep pace with a drone with starting tech engines. A modern analogy might be that a jetliner has no issues keeping ahead of a small prop driven plane.

Well, the number of engines comes into the play too.
Having a huge jet with only one engine versus a plane with multiple turboprobs.

If I understand you correctly, your drone had less then half the engines the ship had, and at worse tech level.

No, both ship and drone were at max number of engines. That would put Drones at speed 14~16 and the frigate at speed (Contra Terrene engines)... 14~16 I think. So of course the drone could never catch up. This is BM so it further depends on just how good those Ion/Contra Terrene engines were - a Lv 5 Ion Engine is as good as a Lv 3 Contra Terrene Engine. At a guess, I'm assuming you were using Lv 1 Ion Engines.

As for the map thing, try re-downloading BM? I've not heard of such a problem before but I'd think it would be something to do with missing .bmp files or wrong specificiations in data files when creating the map.

I figured it out! I clicked load map settings and it changed my map

ps when you use a temporal shifter and a large mount it doesn't add any weight to the component but it adds damage (balance mod 1.14) (maxed lvl of ship mount, forgot my shifter lvl...also tried it on a sat, same thing...so thats unit mount I guess)

I Tried it on larger mount to see if I could get away with it, but alas the temporal shifter got bigger
