Best Beam Weapon in game |

Hello everyone:
I was wondering what is the most effective beam weapon in the game? I know the Wave-Motion gun is the biggest, but I was wondering what the most effective one is in terms of damage, range, and cost.
I mostly play Stock and I like playing theme fleets (ex: I played a fleet similar to the one in the New Battlestar Galactica using only Depleted Uranium Cannons and Capital Ship Missiles) and the next one I want to play will be mostly using beam weapons and torpedoes (similar to Star Trek ships)

To date, the best BEAM weapon I've found has been the Anti-proton beam.
Mostly, this is because it's literally twice as easy to hit the other guy with. (at least, in Balance Mod. I think it's like that in Stock too.)
Allso, I'll freely admit I've never gone more than 50 turns into a game yet, so I have little knowledge of the "advanced" beam-weapons.

As for stock, I'd have to vote for the lightning ray (organic tech).
short reload time, small size, long range, good damage. I think none of the stock beams have accuracy alterations.
Overall, Lightning ray has great potential.

The answer varies depending on what you want the beam to do. I'm a fan of the Lightning Ray and the Phased Energy beam. Organic tech also makes fighters even more ridiculous.

Well, I've always been a fan of Crystalline tech - High Energy Magnifiers are really nice. As are Shard Cannons. But the weapon I thought was the best on fighters was supposed to be the Incinerator Beam, wasn't it? I'll have to defer to other people on that one because I never use fighters/carriers myself.

Manners you fool, Conduct is very important.
Yes stock has no accuracy change as of yet that i have found, however even in balance mod i find that at higher levels the APB doesnt do quite enough damage to make the accuracy bonus worthwhile in bigger classes of ship.
And the phased energy weapons are much weaker in balance mod to.

well u can always work it oput yourself by looking at damage and reload times and accuracy.
balance mod makes the differences much more meaningfull as in stock it realy doesnt matter to much since at high tech it a almost 1 hit kill anyway.
also depends on ship size, i like APBs on smaller ships cus fit more and they fire faster but use incinerators and WMGs on cruiser to dreadnought size.
also try it in simulator with differently kitted out ships and see what hapens
