Grudge : PBW game announcement

Submitted by RogerN on Mon, 2008-02-18 11:22. Space Empires V Multiplayer

I have created a new PBW game called "Grudge", which is now open for signups. The game's forum is public, so please post any questions you may have on the PBW site rather than here.

Grudge!

The victory condition for this game is non-standard, so read carefully! Every player will be given a secret enemy. If your secret enemy is still "alive" when the game ends, you lose. You also lose if your empire is not "alive" when the game ends (defined below). The game will end when all surviving players agree to end it. Therefore it is possible for multiple players to win. More details and definitions are below.

Version: SE5 V1.66 with Balance Mod v1.14 (Folder name 110+)
Starting resources: 50000
Starting planets: 1
Home planet value: Good
Score display: All
Technology points: 0
Technology cost: Medium
Racial points: 2000
Quadrant type: Custom map
Quadrant size: 60 systems, minimum 5 hops between starting systems, maximum of 6 hops to your farthest neighbor
Event frequency: Medium
Event severity: High
Victory conditions: SEE ABOVE PARAGRAPH
Maximum units: 3000
Maximum ships: 500

alive: A player is considered alive as long as he controls at least one planet, and responds to communications from the Host in a timely manner. A player which has been killed by the destruction or capture of his planets may continue to submit turns, but he cannot win the game. Recapturing or colonizing a planet does NOT turn a dead player back into a living one. Death is permanent.

scores: All scores are visible. Therefore it is easy to see if a player is still alive. If your secret enemy "dies" then you should report it to the host to avoid confusion.

game end: The game ends when all surviving players agree that it should end. You don't get to vote if your empire is not alive.

map: We will be using a custom quadrant map for this game. Starting systems are arranged such that all players will start within 5 or 6 hops from each other - no more, no less. There are approximately 50 inhabitable systems, which is close to 6 systems per player.

Four slots left! Also, as long as we don't get any objections (and PBW adds support soon), we'll be using the newly released 1.14 version of Balance Mod.

Then just head on over to http://seiv.pbw.cc and find the game titled "Grudge" and join it! Eye-wink

If you've never played on PBW before, you'll need to register a free account, though.

I haven't tried a PBW game yet, but am willing to give this a shot if you don't mind a bunch of newb questions about getting setup and started.

I've already registered at the PBW site and found the game sign up, but wanted to drop a note before wasting anyones time.

No problem at all. The PBW system is easy to use, IMO. All you really need to do is upload one file each turn.
