More Moddable |
The game is currently moddable, but I think it could be more moddable.
This is how:
1. Another VehicleUnitTypes.txt file only it is VehicleShipTypes.txt. This would contain the ship/Base things and all other vehicles built at a space yard.
Reason: This would allow a whole other dimension to how mods work. Things like "Warp Technology" allowing construction of ships that can travel through warp points etc.
2. More Formulas/requirements. This would be in files like homeworld starting facilities allowing modders to make racial traits or starting techs to affect the setup of the starting facilities.
Reason: More diverse gameplay! And more mods

Eh? More facilities than will fit in the planet's space limit?

You could look at the absolutum dominium mod,
it gives you the imperial capital structure on your homeworld which can't be build anywhere else. you could mod that with different techlevels different modifiers are enabled.
You could also distribute that on different facilities and enable the facilities via techlevel.
If you want more facilities on the planet give that one facility the ability to create more facility space ( i think that is possible ) and give the ability the same tech-requirements than the facility you want to be placed.
Now fill your starting planet list, with say 30 facilities, put the standart facilities first
( the usual 19 or 20 ) and then the special facilites after them, when the right techlevels are given, the capital facility provides the needed space and the facility is placed ( in theory .. i don't know if the game calculates facility space first or places the facilities first. )

You can place racial facilities in the homeworld file. IIRC, races that have no access to them will simply skip that entry and add the next stuff.
