Technical Problem

So, I can start a game, get 2-300 turns in and then the game will hang during end-turn processing, or give an error where it cannot find file "c:\program"

It gave a similar error previously, but I uninstalled and reinstalled and it seems to work okay.

I bought my copy over Steam, if that matters.

Any ideas?

Did you load to a non-default location by any chance? Smiling

Steam doesn't really allow a choice in the matter. But if you mean a location other than c:\program files\spaceempiresv then yes.

Funny part is, i would think this would cause problems at game start, not four hours in..

Not sure if this is the case in your situation. But I have run into "c:/program" problems in the past (with other programs). It turned out to be a problem with my APC program (power chute), creating a file called "program" and placing that directly in the "local disk (C:)" folder. It would create this anytime the battery back up had to turn on from a power outage. As far as I could tell, it was power chute trying to save open program info before shutting down, but it only caused errors without any kind of recovery. The tech at the shop kind of rolled his eyes at the power chute part of APC products, stating he gets a lot of complaints and problems from it. Good battery back up, but bad rescue software. The problem was easily fixed by removing the "program" file.

As always, be carefull removing files (copy to a back up folder before removing).
