Bug Report: Intelligence doesn't reset after losing contact (version 1.00) |
In the game I'm playing, when I destroyed a race's known planets and so lose contact with that race, the intelligence spending for that race is not returned to the pool.
I'm guessing there must be a hidden ship somewhere keeping the player in the game, but even when I come across ships of the player it doesn't recognise the race. Eg. In the current game I'm playing a fleet of my ships arrived at the last known planet of the AI player, and in the same turn the AI sent a fleet of ships to one of my planets in the same system. My ships destroyed the planet while his ships stumbled on a mine field and the only survivor lost movement but wasn't destroyed. I then get a message stating that I have lost contact with the race even though it has a crippled ship sitting in orbit around my planet.
I didn't see this being corrected in the patch report.

But...
Nomad mod in SEIV kept you "in the running" even without a home planet.
And I LIKED the nomad design concept, I hope they didn't axe it!
There are 10 types of people in the world:
Those that understand binary, and those that don't.
Well, maybe I'm wrong. Or
Well, maybe I'm wrong. Or maybe ship-based empires can be modded into the game later on.
Contact
Ships can't maintain contact. The empires can still play, but politics is disabled. Worked like that in SEIV as well.

Lost Contact : Interesting possibility
Wouldn't it be interesting if you had found a lone rogue ship crewed by a race you had obliterated, captured the ship and use their population to colonize unbreathable atmospheres.

The game will correct
The game will correct intelligence spending after a few turns, so that's a minor bug. I'm guessing that's why it's not fixed yet.
And ships don't count toward empire survival. If you've killed their last planet, they're dead (makes sense: a few hundred people without a planetary base won't be able to do much, including survive for more than a few generations. Political relations are out of the question).
