PBW game help

Been thinking/wanting to try playing the game via pbw. Been to the web site and looking around. Was lookin for a guide to get a new player going. I looked at some of the listed open games and saw the game set up, see listed resource values with different values but dont know where to place them on setting up a new game for a pbw game. Any help appreciated.
Ive mostly played using quick start games single player....
