end of turn hang's ruined yet another epic game!

Hi, just thought I would post that yet another of my games,(ver. 1.66, BM. 1.12), has repeatably and permanently hung itself at end of turn processing. The game is on a large map with medium number of players, on medium difficulty, I'm using the gorn shipset(properly editted text), and there are no other custom shipsets installed. My pc is a pentium 4 ht at 3 ghz, 2.5 gigs dual channel ram, ati 9600 w/128 megs on board. Many turns into the game it just hangs about 95-98% through the "blue bar". I was going to post a save game but I never have before and can't figure out how to place it in my post. Please, Please do something about these hang's, this is my favorite game but I can't lose every empire I create due to a hangup!!

It happens with annoying regularity. I try to keep the map size, and the number of players, units, and ships down as much as possible. In a current game it also helps to crush your opposition as quickly as possible. Smiling

Your right about the regularity of these hangs Vince278, it sometimes makes me nervous to even start up a game. I hope MM can squash these bugs soon!

Same here. I love those epic games with everything maxed out. I think they may have an idea on how to speed things up some. We'll just have to wait and see. Smiling

I noticed some effect on the turn end hanging bug you might want to try.

I had same situation: had saved the game, everytime I trieds to process a turn I got the hang bug.

But I noticed, that if you in the game set the computer players that have died to human players (menu->players thingie), then these hangings stop. Maybe the computer tries to process the AI of a player that is already dead, and that causes some problems, or maybe it is trying to report to dead AI. I guess the reason why it comes often in the end of the bar is that the neutral empires which are easily destroyed are last.

Anyway, seting those destroyed computer races as human helps atleast me, now the game won't freeze at all (I guess if it starts again, I can see if some other race died). It won't slow game play down much, as dead empires have no turns.

Can anyone who has the end of turn hang please try this method? You might save your games, and we might get the exact reason for it, or atleast confirm that this might be related to it.

Doesn't work for me I'm sorry to say.
I set the empires that had been destroyed under player control and it did nothing. So I then set all players under my control, which also did nothing. I still get that crash at the end of turn processing causing a CTD.
