Carriers and Ordnance

Can somebody please explain how the Ordnance and Supplies work on Carriers ???

I have found that after several uses some of my fighters remain behind because they don't have Ordnance anymore...

How much Ordnance should I put on a Carrier to solve this issue ??

I have a Light Carrier with 40 Light Fighters (20 Fighter Bays). Don't know how much Ordnance components I have on that Carrier Design.

Do the Fighters have their own supply store ?? Do they use the Ordnance from the Carrier ??

I would like to know how this works so I can redesign my Carriers (I also have a Heavy Carrier Design with Heavy Fighters but that has up until now never seen action)

I always have a supply ship as an escort and trasnfer ordnance and supplies after each battle, there's no way to put enough ordnance for a campaign on a carrier (then you would have a cargo ship with a couple of fighter bays).

What type of ship do you use for supply purposes ?? And is that only Ordnance or also Supply ?? How do you transfer ordnance to Fighters ??

I tried using a Freighter but I had problems getting Ordnance and Supplies in its Cargo holds...

I always use a freighter personally. Put alot of Supply bays and Ordinance bays on it then either some quantam reactors or some solar panels to rebuild your supply - alternatively, you can have some emergency supply pods on board with a repair bay, use the pods for supply (they get destroyed) then next turn the repair bays have rebuilt them, ready to use again. This last is not very efficient, its always alot better to use quantam reactors/solar panels in my experience.

Note- the repair bay can be on a dedicated repair ship, doesn't have to be on your supply ship per se.

Doesn't a Freighter need 50% Cargo holds ??? Does that leave enough room for Ordnance and Supply storage ???

Supply bays and Ordinance bays count as "cargo" for that purpose. You can not have any "cargo bays" at all on a freighter as long as you had atleast 50% of the space taken up by Supply/Ordinance bays.

He's likely referring to a Balance Mod design, where supply/ordnance count towards cargo requirements.

Is that not the case in stock? Umm, truth be told I rarely play stock ...perhaps never would be a more accurate statement unless you count Unnamed's mod as stock...

Still, I thought that was how it was even in stock.

In stock, Supply and Ordnance storage does not count towards cargo requirements.

yeah... For stock I usually build a Cruiser or Destroyer and make that my ammo/supply carrier escorts for my fleets...
