omg requirement formulae

Submitted by lemmy on Thu, 2008-01-17 14:00. Space Empires V General

Just installed SEV and after creating an empire and going wtf at the interface (last i played SE was before V came out) i started looking through the data files and noticed:

Quote:
Requirement 1 Formula := Get_Empire_Tech_Level("Cultural Studies") >= 1

How do they work? Is there a reference somewhere?

In the docs folder, there is modding .pdf file that covers off all the fields in each data file, as well as the various formula functions available.

For the example you posted, it just means "if our empire has cultural studies greater than or equal to level 1" than this item becomes available.

They all give you like 1% per level to various things, like Recreation Activities gives 1% reproduction to planetary populations empire wide per level. Theres one for just about everything, research, trade etc.

Thanks, found the modding pdf, very useful!

Where are the +1% to reproduction/research/trade defined? I'm just looking at TechAreas.txt now, and see no reference to anything like that.

They are defined in CulturalAchievements.txt in your /data folder.
