Xiati or Xi'Chung showing up in games?

Submitted by unnamed on Mon, 2007-12-31 21:56. Space Empires V General

Hey Everyone,

Has anyone seen the Xiati or Xi'Chung in any of their games recently? I must have started over 20 games in the last week or two, with high number of players and I'm pretty sure neither was in any game. Thanks.

A while back I tried to start a thread in which I said that I was seeing the game selecting ai players from the beginning of the alphabet rather than randomly. I still think this is the case. The reason you don't see the Xiati or Xi'Chung showing up is that they are at the end. It seems to me that this should be fixed in a future patch.

I noticed that the Xi´Chung never appeared in my games, so I started the game several times to check. I chose a high number of computer players and checked how many times each empire was created, this is the result in a little more than 22 games:

Abbidon 14
Amonkrie 15
Cue Cappa 15
Drushocka 6
Eee 12
Jraenar 11
Norak 14
Phong 20
Sergetti 18
Sithrak 15
Terran 14
Ukra Tal 23
Xiati 17
XiChung 0

0 for Xi´Chung!

Now you mention it, I haven't seen these 2 races in any of my games in the last month.

Which shipset was your race using?

I've actually seen them both in a recent game.

I think it may have to do with the settings.txt

"Random Player Personality Groups := 4
Random Player Personality Group 1 Percent := 25
Random Player Personality Group 2 Percent := 25
Random Player Personality Group 3 Percent := 25
Random Player Personality Group 4 Percent := 25"

is the way I've got it set up, basic se5 and other mods may have it differently, ie IRM is "Random Player Personality Groups := 4
Random Player Personality Group 1 Percent := 30
Random Player Personality Group 2 Percent := 30
Random Player Personality Group 3 Percent := 30
Random Player Personality Group 4 Percent := 10"

and if its similar to to se4 than all the 'aggressive' AI's are part of the 4th group (only 10%).

Hmm, well i haven't played for a few days now, but i just checked my current campaign (Unnamed most recent mod), and the Xiati are in my game. I happen to be protecting them against the Romulans at current. And i've had some very good relations and many treaty upgrades per their request. Unfortunately, i usually save over my previous games or delete the older games and i don't recall seeing the Xi'Chung in any of them yet, but the Xiati are in my current one.

I was using standard ship sets. Also I just started a new game and this time the Xi'Chung made it in. Maybe everything is fine now. Maybe they are less common or something or maybe it has to do with what Deathstalker mentioned. Anyways thanks.

Hmm... what version is it cause my game still shows ZERO if Xi'Chung...

I started 20 games with "high amount of computer players." Still nothing...

could your copy of the Xi'Chung have been altered or modded? Check the AI_Main.txt file in the Xi'Chung directory. There are three statements in the beginning that control the race directly (ie the true/false ones). If they are False/True/False then thats what is preventing them from showing up.

I think you misunderstood, I was asking which shipset you were using as a player... if you had chosen the Xi'Chung set or their flag, you would not get them generated in your game...

Hey Kwok,

Not sure, I'll have to check tonight. I use a saved custom AI for testing that was made randomly. Thanks for the info, that would probably explain the problem.

I have never played with the Xi´Chung shipset or flag, but have never seen them in the game.

I choose them as my empire in the quick start and saved the empire. When I want them in my games I add them after I create my empire and set it to be computer controlled.

I think there is a definite problem and I think it may be in selecting New Games in Balance Mod. Which may also affect other mods based on BM. I posted more info for Captain Kwok's perusal over at http://home.spaceempires.net/ftopicp-26834.html#26834 in the Balance Mod forums.
