May buy game, got some questions. |
Ok, I played the demo and thought the game looked neat a bit buggy but its a demo right? I have been waiting for a great space game to play vs others on my LAN. I was really excited about Galactic Civilizations but they don't have multiplayer blah! Anyway, my questions are as follows:
1) As of right now, is the game buggy? Like game stopping bugs especially in multiplayer?
2) Does the game give you a reason to explore? Like in Civ 4 finding different resources or special resources, Barbarian huts with gold/techs/or a fight. I read something about ruins that just give you some tech but that doesn't seem as exciting. I hope there is a little more spice.
Thanks for any info!
Ruins
There are ruins, but they tend to randomly disappear at the moment. They can give a level up in one of your current techs, or a completely new one you can't get otherwise.
Second question- MP is simultanious from what I can tell.

Just.. one... more... turn...
For me, the one more turn desire from Space Empires comes from trying to get that next tech level to get a fancy new toy to blow things up with. Seeing as SE:V has 100 levels in many techs, I think that will last quite a while.
Civ 4 keeps you enticed for different reasons from SE:V. SE:V has fun tactical combat, whereas Civ 4 has a simplified combat system. Instead of just controlling where units go, you get to control the fights first-hand. That should keep you wanting just one more turn long enough

With all these people, you would expect one of them to carry an iguana around...
Tech tree
SE5 has a tech tree..well, more of a tech "bush", really. It isn't as interconnected as Civ or Alpha Centari's is.
For example: to get High-Energy Discharge weapons, you have to research Ion Engines 5, which unlocks Contra-Terrne Engines, then research that to 5 to unlock HED weapons.

You can play multiplayer
You can play multiplayer either turn based or similt.
at the moment similt still has some bugs and UI issues, but the patch will fix some of those, others are still being worked on. after the patch youshould be able to have a good similt turn mp game...

an se5a is a ww1 fighter, it is also a car.

Re: May buy game, got some questions
Monday there is a large patch due which will fix many of the bugs.
As for #2, I guess it depends on what you consider as spice. I always have enjoyed exploration, in Civ 4 and Space Empires IV, because it allowed me to plan my strategic moves. Planning city locations and areas of prime conquest always outweighed my desire to raid a Barbarian Hut, so for me they are very similar.
