Can ground units ram?

So, can units ram in ground combat?

OK, OK, I'm asking because of this crazy idea I had last night...

Suicide bomber components which can only be installed on militia troops, and require "political indoctrination" or "religious technology" or some such tech to recruit!

Go ahead and pillory me, left-wingers Sticking out tongue

Hmmm...I don't see why not.

If you make a warhead component, or modify the current ones, to allow for Troop and/or Structure targets, and allow it to be placed on Troops (and possibly Fighters) then I think it would work.

Right - the question is, though, is the ram button present/functional in tactical ground combat, and/or can the combat AI handle it?

The Ai will handle it since the functions are incorporated, but I don't know about the ram button, it is most likely not available during ground combat just because they didn't see this as an option Smiling Would give new meaning to running over infantry in your high speed tank Smiling

Drones are available for ground combat and the unit type gives it a ramming option in its definition (and they do ram).

Drones take part in ground combat? O.o

I know fighters do and they have kamikaze warheads, though...

Oh, sorry, they do in the BSG mod Smiling I just added the takes part in ground combat. I have a different view of the drone, small fighter size unit, probably different from everyone else's view of frigate size.

Hmm, I guess the next question is: can sky plane based units ram ground plane units? Death from above type thing. I think it would be cool if the sky units would fall out of the sky once destroyed instead of just evaporate....

You can Ram in ground combat, I've done it. I accidentally made my invasion force unable to fire, So I rammed the bad guys to death...

SEV, more than a feeling.

I wouldn't count on effective ramming between air and ground units. The game's had pod and missile altitude issues in space, so I'm guessing a collision will require direct contact in planetary combat also.
