Looks like MM is back to work.
Version 1.64:
1. Fixed - Nebulae events had an incorrect picture filename.
2. Fixed - Game would hang during end of turn processing when a new empire was created.
3. Fixed - The Ships List window was sorting crew amount as text instead of as a number.
4. Fixed - Using the "All Ministers On" button in the Empire Options window would cause
planet and ship reports to not show their individual minister icon.
5. Fixed - Norak cruiser and battleship had switched models.
6. Fixed - Sometimes an AI seek order would cause the game to lockup.
7. Fixed - AI Political memory was saving incorrectly.
8. Fixed - Fighter groups would not have the correct supplies when launched into an existing group.

Is there any word about when the course a ship takes will match the displayed one?

I thought something was wrong with number 8!!! I spent the last 3 days working AI event saving using that as an example!! Sweet vindication!!

This is a beta changelog. Kwok, do you know if he intends to do a couple of changes for a quick release?

A quick release of the processing end of turn error would be great as it seems looking into the issue logs that i am not the only one who is experiencing it... I like this game, but this is the only error that annoys me. All the errors in the patch logs, and this is the only one I noticed. 
Please please please, quick release....

Glad to see that. Will this update also address the problem of sorting "Supplies" as text values instead of numeric?

There is a unofficial fix for the hang available at the link below.
Instead of creating a new empire from intelligence attacks, it turns the colony over to the person performing the intelligence attack.

Issue 2 does seem to be related to sabotage efforts.

Nr. 8 is a welcome fix, it has been bothering me for a while. I assume ordnance is also checked, while not specially mentioned(it seems to behave similarly).
This might not be a proper place to ask, but is shield imploder working properly? In the description it is said it causes damage, but I've never seen that, it only destroys shields in one shot. Even a bit higher level shield imploders at close range don't seem to actually cause any damage. Can anyone confirm this? (is the damage maybe applied to the shields, which then are totally removed? Or maybe damage does not affect armor, and there fore does nothing?)
