Trying to create a new main empire... Help!

Okay, as the topic says, I'm in the process of making a new... well, sort of... main empire for added story value into the game. (So if I release it for some reason, don't expect anything flashy. It's also, in large part, my efforts to learn the system step by step.)

Anyway, I've run into a couple problems.

First of all, how do you set up the empire's race point distribution?

Second, when modifying the _AI_General file, I found this little thing:

Personality Group := 1

What is that? Would anyone care to tell me what the different personality types are, and if it's possible to make my own personality file?

AI racial trait selection is actually controlled by the race's setup script, [Race_Name]_Setup. You'll have to check out the source .txt file in the Utilities\ScriptParser\SE5EmpireScripts folder. You can create one for your race from the default_setup.txt file, which contains a list of all the traits available. The personality group value is connected to the random personality group entries in settings.txt. In theory, during random race generation the game is supposed to add a mix of the personality types according to the percentages listed in the settings file. However, it's not being used at this time and all the stock races are set to 1.

Can you designate what techs to research (and how far) and what techs to totally ignore in an AI script? Thanx. Smiling

Actually you can specify exactly what the AI should, will and won't research, in what order and precedence and according to changing conditions (found a new tech or bumped into a race where another tech is needed to counter it).

The AI scripts really determine how a game is determined.
