Problems with Gameplay |
Okay, I've got a game going and wonder a couple things...
1. Why does every AI race in my game keep telling me to stop spying on them the second I build an Intel facility? Stop spying... stop your espionage... almost every turn from almost every race even though all resources for intel are set to defense, no offense...
2. Even if I am brotherly relations with a race, there are many attempts to get even the weakest treaty that go denied or unanswered at all? What's up with the AI in this game?
*** Oh, and if you refuse to give us a map editor of any kind, can you PLEASE (in the patch that you fix next things) set it up so we can assign NUMBERED starting points, not just a bunch of random ones? Thanks.

Re: Problems with Gameplay
Ah, there's your problem. Fastest solution: get Unnamed mod which only improves the AI and doesn't touch the rest of the gameplay.
That is, assuming you don't have the belief of "I want the stock to be good, without mods" which (in my view) shouldn't necessarily be applicable for a niche game like this (especially a game where "install the mod" doesn't hold the usual meaning of tinkering with .exe files or swapping specific data files or anything special).

Re: Problems with Gameplay
You can get any treaty you want with any race if you go to the main menu, go to players, then take control of whoever you want a treaty with. I know its cheating but like Isadhl said the A.I is retarded, its almost the only way to get treaties. My number one concern right now is that I can't control the launch or recovery of fighters in battle. All other ship types work fine but the fighters an/or carriers are bugged severly. Fighters launch immediately without my say so, which is annoying but manageable. However when their getting thier a**es kicked and I attempt recovery the game f***s up. Sometimes all of the fighters will freeze, sometimes just a few but it almost always leads to a CTD with a memory address error. I have fixed most of the issues i've had with this game but this is still a nagging problem that takes alot of the fun out of the combat aspect of the game. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Problems with Gameplay
You can set strategies so that units are not automatically launched in combat.

Re: Problems with Gameplay
i have the same problem in game, well its actually more of a nusiance then problem. i noticed the only races that accused me of spying when i wasn't, was the ones that i contemplated it with. In the spying menu, u have to select the type of spying that you wish to use, and being curious i looked down the whole list...sabotage ship, planet, espionage politics, etc. Out of the 9 races that were in my current campaign, i did spy on 4 of them, 2 have been eliminated, and 2 are currently in sabotage empire wide, but 1 race i never spyed on, still accuses me of it, it was a race that i had selected as sabotage ships, but decided to not do so, and never did. But once u select a type of spying there is no "none" button, or selection, so even though i have no points to them at all or never did it still says sabotage ships as the type. So it appears that even with no points to spying in any way shape or form at anytime, they still accuse me of the catagory i had selected and had contemplated, so it must be a bug or just needs the "None" choice added to the menu. the only empires that do not accuse me are the ones that i never selected a type for. Which ofcourse could ruin any chance for anytype of treaty due to lack of selection of spying type "none".
Unfortunately, there seem's to be alot of nonsense programing in SEV where the A.I. is concerned, especially in the political relations with other races. Comments by a race and thier mood seem to be just empty words of non sense, becuase they are not an actual statement or standing to the A.I. Its more of an intertainment thing, and from what i understand from preveious posts, is very misleading to many players. But i read some where that the A.I. really does not know or understand thier meaning and does not use any of this to play its empire in anyway. So brotherly and hated don't seem to do any different when it comes to treaties, becuase even if it said family, most loved etc, the race will not trade with you anymore then one at war, and i have yet to see a race ask for peace to stop genocide either. It would appear that the programmers did not put much effort into this A.I. at all and i've seen better on the nintendo game system. I do believe that Capt Kwok ( i apologize for any mis spellings) has a mod out that does address some of these problems, but unfortunately for old guys like me i dont mess with mods so i guess i'm stuck with the non sense. i hope this helps, but besides these things the game is still alot of fun and thats why i play it even if the A.I. is retarded
